Pule Taukobong is a successful co-founder of The Intrepid. Prior to this, he played a pivotal role as a founding partner at CRE Venture Capital, a prominent African-focused venture capital firm based in the US, overseeing assets exceeding USD 300 million. His presence extended to board roles at Andela, Yoco, and SweepSouth.
Before venturing into entrepreneurship, Pule showcased his investment acumen in various roles at Investec, spanning Johannesburg, Cape Town, and New York. A distinguished Kauffman Fellow, Pule’s academic foundation includes a National Diploma in Information Technology in Development Software and Information Systems from The Durban University of Technology.
Currently, Pule serves on the board of PBT Group Limited, a listed company on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.
Andrew da Costa is a co-founder of The Intrepid. Andrew started his investment career in 2007 and entered the realm of Private Equity in 2012 when he joined one of South Africa’s premier private equity firms. Andrew’s successful track record in Private Equity includes investing in and disposing of assets which were awarded Private Equity Deal of the Year in 2017 and 2020 at the DealMakers South Africa Annual Awards. Together with his co-founders, Andrew successfully led The Intrepid’s investment into PBT Group Limited.
Andrew completed his Chartered Accountancy articles at Investec Bank, where he earned the distinction of achieving honours and being placed second nationally in the Part II SAICA board exam. Andrew holds a Bachelor of Business Science degree (Finance Honours) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting from the University of Cape Town.
Mvikeli (Mvi) Hlophe is a qualified chartered accountant (CA(SA)) with a decade of post-articles experience in private equity and principal investing. Prior to joining The Intrepid, Mvi served as a lead principal at Khulasande Capital, an Investec-led captive private equity fund. His journey also includes significant roles as the Head of Corporate Finance at a JSE-listed Black Investment Company and as a Deal Executive at one of South Africa’s premier private equity firms. Mvi completed his CA (SA) articles at EY.
Mvi's holds a Bachelor of Business Science (Finance Honours) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting from the University of Cape Town. Currently, Mvi sits on the board of Tsebo Solutions Group Holdings. Mvi's impactful presence extends to his past board roles at Clover, Obsidian Health, South African Enterprise Development, and the Vuna Fishing Group, underscoring his commitment to driving success across diverse industries.
Galen Hossack, a seasoned investment strategist, brings two decades of comprehensive expertise across the listed, private, and venture capital markets. Before co-founding The Intrepid, Galen served as a shareholder, portfolio manager, and head of research at Bataleur Capital. His analytical prowess also found expression as an Investment Analyst at Investec Asset Management and De Fay Fund Management.
Galen pursued studies in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics, graduating with Honours in Financial Analysis and Portfolio Management from the University of Cape Town. Galen has successfully passed the CFA exams.
